Local currency reports for nine more countries

Following our launch of Euro reporting for publishers in five European countries, we're happy to announce that local currency reports are now also available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Portugal, South Africa, Switzerland, and the UK.

If you're located in one of these countries, you can now update your account to display earnings in your local currency. After you've updated your account, any earnings generated from advertisers paying in currencies other than your local currency will be converted daily. If you receive payments in your local currency, this means that there also won't be any additional conversions at the end of the month. However, you can still choose to receive payments in U.S. Dollars or change your payment method at any time.

Before enabling local currency reports in your account, we recommend downloading and saving copies of your past reports in U.S. Dollars for your records. You can then update your account by signing in to AdSense and clicking the link in the green prompt on your Reports Overview page. You'll be asked to review and agree to a new set of Terms and Conditions. Unfortunately, we're not able to interpret the meaning of changes in our legal documents for publishers -- if you have questions or need legal advice on interpreting the new Terms, please don't hesitate to contact your attorney.

We'll be requiring this change in the future, so we recommend updating your account to report earnings in your local currency soon. You can find answers to common FAQs associated with these new local currency reports in a recent Inside AdSense blog post -- all references to 'Euros' in the post now also apply to your local currency. In addition, detailed information about these new reports can be found in our Help Center.

Nice to hear the news about Local Currency Reports. Unfortunately, I am located in Asian Country (India) for awaiting this facility. Thanks to Google Adsense system.

Local currency payment can be introduced by google in the countries of subcontinent. Bangladesh and India should be included in the list. Keep doing great work Google.

Please remember to not make this change mandatory for Canada. Many accounts happen to be physically located in Canada but our market is the US so we'd prefer to keep our accounts in US$. Also, many of these accounts spend significant amounts with AdWords (in US$) so conversion to CA$ will require us to convert back to US$ creating a double conversion loss (and less money to spend with AdWords.

Excellent news about the report in local currency, will the reports still be based on PST or will these be in the local timezone?

Tomppa said...

"This will happen on a daily basis using the prevailing market rate from the previous day"

Now, does this concern future earnings, or how is, for example, earning for June converted if I change currency today? Is it today's USD-> Euro rate, or is it calculated by daily for past days also?

I switched to my local currency and now I don't receive my monthly payments anymore. The system says I have to verify my bank account but I can't select the one I've been using for AdSense payments for the last 5 years. I only have one account and I don't want to open another one (besides, I'm living abroad so that's not feasible). Any thoughts?

Bianca Raven said...

Are the currency conversion rates amended for the entire monthly earnings as the rates change daily? Or are they locked in at the end of each day in accordance with what the exchange was at the time of calculation?

If they're locked in at the end of each day, then I want to switch back to US currency as this could constitute a lower difference in resulting conversion to Australian dollars. Thanks.

I think Google need to clarify the VAT issues for UK based AdSense publishers, before we are asked to agree to the new terms and conditions.

I notice in the faq now the phrase says "you should not" have to charge VAT, which to me implies a bit of doubt.

What will happen if Google have been wrong all these years about VAT?

I'm still missing about $35 from the Google foul up of stats reporting. Are we being told everything?

When will the since last payment issue resolve in AdSense. Its not showing the way it should.

I really do NOT want to do business with Google Ireland and am happy receiving reports in US dollars from Google USA. If I have to deal with Google Ireland then I pay VAT on my income and it will cost at least one person their job.

Mike said...

ALSO - 75% of my traffic is US based. How is it fair i have to collect VAT when the majority of my income originates abroad. Please Google just leave it all alone!

Peter Wu said...

The new Terms and Conditions still have California as governing law, instead of English or local law as noted in the instructional email I received.

steve said...

English law is not UK law, and the company Google Ireland is in the Eurozone and has it's own legal system.

Peter Wu said...

Yes, but the parties to a contract can agree that the contract is to be governed by the laws of a jurisdiction other than one in which a party is resident or incorporated/established. In this case, my expectation was that it would be English law or local law (Australia in my case), only because the email I received from Google AdSense stated that:

"To switch to reports in Australian Dollars, you'll need to agree to an updated version of the Terms and Conditions. Here are the main changes included:

* The party that publishers are contracting with changes from Google Inc. to Google Ireland Limited.
* Publishers are responsible for paying any local taxes in their jurisdiction. Google will only issue VAT refunds to publishers with an address in Ireland.
* The governing law changes from California law to either English or local law."

How do you swtich from AUD back to USD?

Matt D. Barnes said...

Are we seriously stuck with this? No alternatives?

While I have a UK home address I spend 90% of my time in the US and worldwide. I use US$ almost exclusively and everyone pays me in them.

What good is seeing my adsense reports in £? Useless. Seriously, give us some options here.

Barefoottech said...

Any reason why AUD minimum is $150AUD
not $100AUD or $100USD Equivalent?

Admin said...

I only changed because they said it would be compulsory anyway. I feel we will be badly affected by the exchange rate calculation - twice. Double the currency risk.

Plus they were a bit sneaky not mentioning the change from minimum payment of US$100 to A$150 in their summary of changes. I was rather shocked at that. US$100 certainly does NOT = A$150, currently is more like A$123. I'd like to lobby to retain the US$100. The A$150 just keeps the money in Google's coffers longer.

Vicky Londres said...

This is extremely frustrating, since I've send a form requesting change of address and CHANGE OF COUNTRY!!!! Yet those idiots still sending me emails about how to change my report from dolars into pounds.

I AM LIVING IN THE US!!!! MY REPORT MUST STILL BE IN DOLARS, AND MY ADDRESS CHANGED AS PER PREVIOUS REQUESTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Akbar said...

Thanks for information

IBOFB said...

WARNING: This change will also mean YOU WON'T GET PAID THIS MONTH. It's pretty disgraceful of Google to force such changes without even warning of the ramifications.

IBOFB said...

looks like the payments in old currency are now getting processed. Thanks for the fix google.

Gnoll110 said...

I'm not clear, If I change to local currency, does this mean I get paid in local currency too?

If this is not the case, having account on one currency and payment in another just adds confusion.

Peaceful Blog said...

I do not feel comfort with such option to change currency. I may opt out and drop using AdSense.

Nomen said...

Why is norwegian currency presented as "Nkr123.45" instead of "NOK 123,45"?

If change to local currency is obligatory, why not do it properly?

Hello all please im still confuse about this pick, how I can recieve payments in iraq? is there any service working in?

waiting a reply

Manic Man said...

it might be a good idea NOT to change to your local money. I have done and then, not long later, saw almost £50 taking out of my account. The only thing that admits to an answer is a google fee for that. If you check the forum, there are many more people that have had this happen and we are a bit less then happy with losing that amount.

I got the e-mail informing me of the change. You left me with no options to get back to you on this issue. I will protest the change. I will not do it.
