Make a date with data in Google Analytics

Here in AdSense, we’re big on data. From spreadsheets and graphs to weekly reports and metrics, we constantly turn to numbers when running our business. In a similar vein, we've heard your requests for more data to help you run your AdSense websites, which is why we’re excited to announce the integration of one of our personal favorite reporting tools, Google Analytics, with AdSense. We're gradually rolling out this functionality to publishers, and you'll see an invitation link at the top of your 'Overview' and 'Advanced Reports' pages when it's been enabled for your account.

By integrating your AdSense account with a new or existing Analytics account, you’ll have access to in-depth reports about user activity on your site. In addition to the wealth of metrics already available in Analytics such as unique visitors and visitor language, you'll now have access to granular reports that break down AdSense performance both by page and by referring site. Armed with this new data about user behavior, you’ll be able to make more informed decisions on how to improve the user experience on your site and optimize your AdSense units to increase your revenue potential.

We've highlighted a few ways to use the integrated metrics below, but we encourage you to be creative! Come up with your own to discover how useful (and fun) new data can be:
  • Discover untapped markets. Use the geographies report to determine which regions are under-represented in your site’s user base. Optimize your site’s content to attract more of these under-represented users.
  • Drive high-earning traffic to your site. Use the 'Referring sites' report to determine where the users who are making you the most money are coming from. Focus your efforts on getting traffic from these sources.
  • Delve deeper into AdSense reports. Use the visualization feature to look at trends in your site's AdSense performance over time, or by time of day.
Again, this feature is not yet available to all our publishers, but please keep checking your account for an invitation. In the meantime, you can take a look at our demo to learn more about the reports you'll have access to:

Great feature, just as always.

Too bad I wasn't right when I said this is impossible and all the things people are talking about Analytics and AdSense's marriage is just hoax.

Thanks for this, waiting patiently for the invitation :)
Still no invitation... Neither now... no, still no ...

THANK YOU!!!

We've all been waiting for AdSense and Analytics to make the connection for some time. It will really help to take some of the guesswork out of making a living.

Looking forward to the invitation! :)

This might work for me, but it might not. All I want to do is to change the email address associated with my Adsense account to be the same as the one I use for all of my other Google products (Maps, Analytics, AdWords, Reader, etc.), but it won't allow me to. It keeps telling me that the email is already taken. Arrrgh... I KNOW it's taken... it's taken BY ME! Help me Google! Let me associate my Adsense account with an existing Google account!

The integration doesn't work to me although I have the same email account on both AdSense and Analytics.

Still doesn't seem to tell you what ads people are clicking on. I don't know which ads my visitors are interested in the most. That means if I would block a certain site that I think my visitors are not interested in, I could be shooting myself in the foot. In case that wasn't clear, I have no idea what to block using the Competitive Ad Filter so my visitors will be more likely to get ads they would be interested in.

It's kind of like owning a business and not knowing which products are selling the best or the worst. That's valuable information and without it, you're stumbling blindly in the dark.

Here's an example. Say I have a page of favorite quotations. Do I block ads for insurance quotes since they have nothing to do with quotations? Or are my visitors actually clicking on these ads about insurance quotes? I have no idea. Blocking a site as a test doesn't help because earnings naturally fluctuate, so there's no way to tell for sure.

Speaking of this kind of thing, when are we going to be able to have a list of keywords we want to have blocked? There are some subjects I just don't want advertised on my site. They're irrelevant and a waste of time.

This is a great feature and eagerly awaited for so long. Thanks Google.
Two Q: In few of my sites I have Adsense revenue shared with another Adsense publisher.Does this mean that once I get an invitation, I will be able to also look at his Adsense revenue, or this is completely separated?

Does this integration means that Analytics will display Adsense revenue for any Adsense code it finds on the page, or this is for email accounts that are same for Adsense and Analytics?

thanks a lot for these improvements!

Can you merge more than one analytics account to one Google Adsense account?

This would be a great opportunity to consolidate for all the people who have one Adsense account but for one reason or the other have multiple analytics accounts.

I have two analytics accounts one for two website and the other for one of my websites.(which I created when I was a newbie) But I have one Adsense account for all three and I would love it if I could bring them all together.

Well, I read in another comment there that there was an interest form, went back to the top of this page, and there it was! So I filled it out, and lo and behold, around two days later, the offer appeared. I checked the boxes, added the code where needed, and hope to have data flowing in soon! Thank you, Google guys, yet again!

I need some clarification... what's the difference between

AdSense Revenue / 1000 Visits

and

AdSense eCPM

? the numbers are pretty different yet I'm not sure what the difference is...

Thanks Google for that beautiful integration.
However, I am missing two things:

1) It would be wonderful to have the CPC as an extra dimension. Why does AdSense never like to show us the CPC?
It's of course easy to calculate that simply by earnings / clicks. However I'd like not to always do the maths individually.
If Google for some reason doesnt want to offer the CPC as an extra dimension: maybe someone can code a plugin for Analytics which just calculates that ratio?
Thanks!

2) Top Referer:
It appears to me that the user has to be refered from some source and then immediately click on an ad on the first page, in order to be counted towards this refering page.
Why can't the user be tracked via cookies and still be counted towards the initial refering site, although there were some PIs on my site (without ad clicks) in between?
This would be much more helpful ...

Thanks
