Do you develop or publish web-based games? If so, you're contributing to a growing trend - according to comScore, over 25% of Internet users play online games every week, which is over 200 million users worldwide. As a beta user of AdSense for Games, you can display video ads, image ads, or text ads within your online games to earn revenue. You'll be able to show these ads in placements you define, such as interstitial frames before a game, after a level change, or when a game is over. Members of our AdWords team will sell your in-game ad placements directly to top brand advertisers, and you'll also see contextually targeted text and image ads based on content and demographic information. In addition, you'll be able to control the ads you see on your pages using our filtering options.
Here's a quick video to give you a better idea of what games are part of our network and how advertisers can use this medium to reach their target audience:
And here's another, less flashy video, to show actual game play and how an ad could appear within the game:
We've built ad technology for games played within a user's browser, and now we're looking to expand our publisher network. At this time, eligible publishers must have a minimum of 500,000 game plays per day and have 80% of their traffic from the U.S. or the U.K. If you're interested in becoming a AdSense for games beta publisher, feel free to review our complete list of requirements and submit an application. You can also find more information on our games site.
I am wondering if normal MMO portals can join as we do get the worst horrible advertising including gold selling services that you CAN NOT BLOCK due to filter limit. And more game related advertising would be very nice.
The highest rated game on Kongegrate's website that I could find shows a TOTAL game play count of about 6,000,000. And it has been there for a lot longer than 12 days to get that total. It was posted April 1, so it took 6 months to get that total. Thats 6 * 30 = 180 days. That's about 33,300 game plays a day.
Could someone point me to a Flash game that gets 500,000 plays per day?
I am not saying it doesn't exist, but I would love to know a few of the games pulling that kind of traffic. I realize Kongregate might not be the best way to analyze this -- that's why I am asking the question.
Its not for small publishers. Adsense team should not post here instead they should contact such publishers directly.. they all are making us eager to join this program and we know we are not eligible.. 500,000 plays in a day.. yikes!
Any plans for Adsense for Silverlight? It may be a microsoft product but it has a growing developer community behind it. I`d love to see a solution like this for Silverlight.
I'm pretty sure the Goog is intending this for Flash Portals / Game Publishers instead of individual games. Since Portals / Publishers would likely integrate the code into their API's. Many individual games will have several versions released for the different popular API's - ( Kongregate / MiniClip / Facebook ).
So, though no Kongregate game is likely eligible. The Kongregate service likely is, as well Armor Games (large publisher) likely is.
Will there ever be a programme like this for downloadable games?
It would be excellent if google could make a DLL for that. I've posted a question on the AdSense forum enquiring about using AdSense within an application (a game) but the response is very negative.
Half a million plays a day? If we were getting figures like this, we really would not NEED to make our players wait any longer to view an Ad before playing. I understand you want quality, but you should perhaps consider reviewing games for a "GOOGLEFLASH" site ? Just so you know, my last game would be earning me around A COOL QUARTER MILLION US dollars a year with those numbers :o)

"500,000 game plays" in a day? in a month?...
I'm wondering the same.

i think so.
Just saw on the application form, its 500,000 per DAY. So that'll sort the men from the boys :P
wow 500.000 plays per days is to high.. I think I wouldn't fit requirement.
500.000 game plays in day?
Hi all - yes, 500k per days but go ahead and submit an application even if you don't fit that minimum.
Thanks!
Ryan

Nice - game advertising combined with the easy to use ad sence "idea"
I think the tower defense type games on Mochi reach around 150k plays a day - can't imagine many games getting 500,000.
I just submitted an application and the selection list starts with 150,000 - 500,000... So that's more realistic at least.
If anyone could send me an extra 350,000 daily players, I'd be much obliged ;)
I would also like to know if you have any plans to support Silverlight games as well.
As mentioned above, it's got a small footprint right now, but that will surely change.
I created a Silverlight game called Diver which I would love to put adsense into.

Minimum! :oD
500,000? HALF A MILLION PLAYS A DAY?!
Really, Google should review its ambicious numbers to something more 'humanly possible'.
No flash game EVER developed EVER reached 500,000 a day (or at least I don't know it).
I'll check back when google realize games aren't like search portals that gets massive visits a day.
totally abstruse
500,000 per day is too high!
It would be nice to at least get some info on the APIs used or the SDK documentation.
I have been hearing about In-Stream for silverlight. If so, is this the path to get Silverlight ads on our games? Anybody here able to respond?
Hello from Macedonia - Greece !!!
Nice Blog
At last, an idea that sounds real good
Adsense for games? I hope they wouldn't be too distracting or annoying in the game play experience.
