Quality, not quantity

As we mentioned a few weeks ago, you can use your AdSense account to display ads on any policy-compliant sites you own. This has often sparked the question among new publishers of 'How many sites do I need to earn money with AdSense?'
We'd like to stress that it's not the number of sites you have, but the quality of those sites that will help you increase your earnings with AdSense. If you're just getting started with your first website and the AdSense program, we recommend taking the time to build up your site with plenty of original, quality content -- write about topics you're passionate about, or which you have expertise in. When designing your website, keep our Webmaster Guidelines and, most importantly, your users in mind.
Then, take advantage of our Webmaster Tools to help increase your site's visibility in the Google search index, and try out the tips our Search Quality Evaluators have provided. Once you've built up organic traffic to your site, use Website Optimizer to understand how users interact with your pages and make improvements to your layout. And of course, during all of this, experiment with AdSense optimization tips to learn which colors, formats, and placements monetize best on your site.
Finally, as we blogged about during this Newbie Fridays series, your earnings potential can go up as advertisers find that you're sending high-quality leads to their sites. This won't happen overnight, but with patience and hard work you can watch your efforts convert into a high-quality site and higher AdSense earnings. And you won't even need a hundred sites to do it :)

I had a quality website displaying Adsense ads, but my account got suspended (not deleted). I fixed what was wrong and contacted Google back through the same email I was notified that my account is suspended. That was about 2-3 weeks ago. I never got an answer, nor my website started displaying ands again. I can login into my Adsense account, as usual, but my website doesn't display ads. What should I do ?

Suspension and getting banned also worry me. Next to my own projects I wirte on several article sites that provide the oppportunity to get a share of the adsense income. To benefit I am required to fill in my adsense code which will then be shown for a certain percentages of views on the articles written by me.
I am afraid of doing this since I give control out of my hands. I wonder why the system of getting banned is non transparent and why Google does not take measures to make the 'shared adsense income" business model safer.
If I would participate in a site by getting a percentage of the ads my entire account could be banned or suspended if the other site breaks the guidelines. Why is it not possible to get a warning or make some kind of system in which the ads of the publisher are banned on one site only. This way more article and shared content sites could tempt more writers to publish content and get a share of the income.
Currently I do my best not to break the guidelines. I never participate in the "shared adsense income" business model and I try to find alternative sources of income if possible, just to minimize the risk of getting suspended or banned.
I think it is ok to have good quality standards and guidelinges but currently they are harming normal business.

Is there any chance to publish AdSense ads on sites in Persian language?
I see some Persian sites do this and you (Google) accept ads in Persian for AdWords.

There are 2 different types of problems, faced by a publisher. One such problem is, his/her account getting banned. Second thing is, the application that the publisher submits, will not be reviewed at all. Infact, i had submitted my application(www.sanjaybharadwaj.blogspot.com) so many days back, and until now(even after requesting google several times via e-mail to review my application) i have not got any response frm their side. So, let we all publishers hope luck is on our side, thus ensuring successful blogging and at the same time, getting paid from google forever, without getting our account terminated ! Show some mercy on us Google! We love you. We respect you.

Quality content drives more traffic ofcourse, as told by newbie central and other gurus online. Thanks.
But reading through other comments, I think google officials should show some mercy on its publishers atleast by giving a chance to realize them what went wrong and how to correct it. This will increase the credibility of google and will help those publishers crying out helplessly in many social forums against google.
Hope google will address these issues.

Well, I signed up for an Adsense account so as to post ads on my site. Now, I am using Joomla! as my CMS and am creating each individual page on my own as I learn Joomla!
Will Google count it against me that my site is brand new and under configuration. Sorry I did not think about this before I listed my site.
I am quite willing to err on the side of caution in making sure I do not violate Google's rules.

I don't and may just use my own ads
Thanks
I mean 50 bucks in 6 months
are you serious? or don't care?
People outside of Google got to eat to;(
It's not an optimization problem or a lack of ads it's a PAYOUT problem and I tried to be loyal but we got to survive to.I think I'm speaking for MILLIONS of bloggers that are just to scared or to stupid to say anything.
Google works for us we don't work for Google remember that.
Thanks for listening I hope your concerned most big companies aren't many of them no longer exist.I do appreciate many of the tools that I have gotten from you guys but adsense is not one of them

JOHNinKEYWEST, can I not use my own ads in addition to the Adsense ads?
I do not think I read where this is an exclusive, captive agent type of arrangement. Why would I not do both as long as I do not carry pornographic content?
As for 3,233 impressions, is that a lot? This is not a get in your face question; I just do not know what is a lot. I ask the question truly not knowing the answer.
I guess I need to re-read.

tim maybe google could give me a job then I would love to explain many great things about their company, but at this point I'm going to stand mute they have a reputation of being vindictive.Ultimately you can do whatever you want with your site.
No one controls my sites but ME.
So that answers alot of guestions I hope.I wouldn't count on BIG companies to respond directly to you unless it's in their best interest that is how the big dogs operate so with them basically no news is good news. They are an awesome company and I plan on making plenty of money with them but I don't like to feel cheated I treat everyone good;)

I think you will get permanently banned now without the ability to appeal because you listed your click through rate and impressions. This is in violation of Google's terms of service which you agreed to.

I have a question about iGoogle gadgets. If the content is located on an external page and is displayed in a google gadget as an iframe, how does Google Adsense evaluates the ads from this pages? I mean that for a gadget the content has to be compact, not a full page, and the ads on these pages could be considered bad placed, but this gadget could perform even better than lots of blogs or sites.

I've been using Adsense for about 3 years now and this post should be earmarked for EVERY new user. Required reading if you will for aspiring online business types.
Furthermore, this is true of any online marketing endeavor, quality over quantity always.

Quality content and your income will go up? That's strange because I have been creating quality content for 9 years, my search rankings have gone up but my Adsense money is constantly going down.
Is Google keeping higher and higher commission splits? We don't know. My Adsense commissions are down 50% since 2006 although I have more content and better rankings.
I am going to experiment with taking off the ads and just selling my own products. Adsense is going down hill for most publishers in my opinion.

It's entirely possible to make a living off Adsense from just one site. I have several, but I'm to the point where my main one could pay my mortgage and other bills on its own.
I like the idea of focusing on just a couple sites and making them the best you can. However, it can be hard to know which of your blogs or websites will end up taking off when you're first getting started (even if you're doing keyword research). I'm glad that I started several in the beginning, because it certainly wasn't my first one that became a great earner.
Quality is a must, but it helps to be in a niche where there's traffic and click-potential. :)

Yes sir I agree with you that a large number of original contents are very necessary . Actually Google search engine will not give answer if any person will not write for solving new problem .
If only one man write for above problem then it may deem that he is inventor of this , so adsense will pay because a high number of traffic will go and due to effect of valuable contents in site people will click to know more about relating topic . So I am very thankful to you that you have given very valuable suggestion for new publishers whose income source and profession is adsense publishing and monotizing .

I have a very unique question, How can I find my "URL" to sign up with "Adsense" when I haven't launched my site yet? I have to join Adsense first before I can launch my site so it can be pre-loaded with Adsense but I can't because they want my "URL" of course. I'm sure there's an easy way. Thanks everyone...Greg.

Serious Flaws in Adsense program policies
In case a person is running ten websites, and all of them are having good content, still Adsense account can be cancelled even if there is small mistake or alleged violation of policies (unknowingly) on any website. Then even good websites won't get Adsense ads in future.
Cancellation of Adsense account permanently is irrational and damaging the reputation of Google immensely. It may amount to the fall of Adsense program as soon as there are smart and wiser entrants in this field.
Instead warn the client first, then stop adsense ads to the concerned website, instead of cancel ling the account and banning a client permanently from Adsense program. Adsense ads should be re-released as soon as the website content is improved. To other websites of a client Adsense ads must continue.
Most of the times innocent persons are trapped and hit hard. Can't you imagine Google is not hitting people but hitting itself by irrational and unwise policies. You must realize that people are unable to read policies of dozens of companies thoroughly as it is almost impractical. Many don't even understand them. Attitude of guidance and advice is necessary, instead of banning everything ruthlessly on a small mistake. Google must wake and become more client/customer friendly. Google is unable to control even its own website: You Tube from bad language, hatred content, and vulgar movies etc. Will it ban its own site permanently. This one example will make you realize how foolishly Google Adsense policies are implemented by your employees.
I hope you will consider our suggestion as it is for the benefit of Google, as we love this company for its immense services.

Google needs an automatic monitoring system that tells you what you are allowed and not allowed to do as you add your adsense code to other programs or sites. If you have crossed the limit, a note should pop-up from Google to keep you from overdoing it, or anything else that can be thought of that they do not like. There are truly some innocent people at adsense not knowing what is what. They could be cancelling some really good members away from adsense.
