Announcing Google Chrome

Today, we're happy to announce the release of the beta version of a new open-source browser: Google Chrome. We encourage you to download it and give it a try.

Google Chrome features a simple and intuitive user interface and an entirely new architecture designed for speed, security, and stability. You can find out more about other Google Chrome features here.

For publishers, you should see the ads on your pages continue to appear as normal in Google Chrome; we built Google Chrome so that most webmasters and site owners shouldn't have to make changes to their sites. If your site is compatible with Safari, it should also be compatible with Google Chrome, as they are both built using WebKit. If you have any questions regarding compatibility with your site, feel free to refer to our webmaster site.

To learn more about why we built Google Chrome, see our official Google blog.

I'm using it right now, and loving every second of it. Aside from a few little features I'm used to (autoscrolling) this browser is amazing. Sweet sweet browser heaven.

Hmm..... It's fantastic idea :)

I have one question:

If I clear up my browser history, is the quick search on URL bar still can used ? Why not use user's Google History ?

Thank !

looking forward to Chrome for efficiency's sake... Google tends to roll out really well-tested software, so it shouldn't be half bad in any case

"We are so, so happy with Google Chrome," mumbled Mozilla CEO John Lilly through gritted teeth. "That most of our income is from Google has no bearing on me making this statement." - http://notnews.today.com/?p=57

I've been using Chrome for most of the day. I have to say I really like most of it but like every bit of new software it has minor annoyances. Give it some time and should be pretty awesome.

I had to allow Windows to automatically adjust virtual memory after 15 minutes of use.

It doesn't sound like this browser delivers when it comes to memory management.

I love firefox because of extensions.. and password management and I hate firefox when it eats my 700MB memory. I will wait until people release chrome extensions.

Great browser and well designed.
However I've noticed a kind of bug - when I scroll the page down using my mouse wheel it doesn't scroll it up! Its a major issue and it doesn't happens on IE, FF and Safari...
I'm on Win XP (SP2) and Microsoft Intelli Mouse Explorer ver. 3.0 with original and updated drivers....

Not so happy as the people above me
it is using lots of memory and CPU even with a few tabs. launching speed is very fast but I'm still with Opera.

Chrome needs some more inbuilt tools atleast a mail client and mouse gesture

Fantastic and I feel Chrome is much faster than Mozilla and opera . I'm impressed by it's simple look. and speed.

I hope we'll be able to have add-ons like Firefox. If not, it won't be worth using. I'm used to having lots of control over my browsing experience. As it is right now, Chrome stinks.

How about a referral programm?

I am using Google Chrome since 15 days and this is really superb.
And I love it.

Zillion,

Google stopped their adsense referrals program last month, so I don't think they're going to open one up just for their browser.
