Here are some of the new features:
- Site Search: You've worked hard to attract users to your site, so it's understandable that you'd be concerned about those users leaving through web search. Now you can choose to provide just site search so users can find all the information they're looking for on your site, and you can host the search results on your own pages so that they can find that information without leaving your site.
- Improved indexing of your pages: We've recently improved our indexing technology so that you can provide a more enhanced Site Search experience for your users. AdSense for search will now index even more pages of your site, as long as we’re able to crawl them, so that your users will see more results from your site in your AdSense for search results. Stay tuned for more updates on future crawl and indexing improvements!
- Vertical search: You can also allow your users to search across multiple sites - this could be a network of sites that you own or other related sites that you think your users might find useful. If you write book reviews on your blog, for example, you can use vertical search to specify a list of online bookstores for users to search through. Other examples of vertical searches include computer forums, travel blogs, political sites you endorse, etc.
- Tuning search results and ads with keywords: Search terms can have different meanings in different contexts, so you can now configure your search engine with relevant keywords. Let's say you manage a site about yoga - you can enter keywords such as 'yoga,' 'exercise,' and 'meditation' so that when a user searches for 'mat,' the search results and ads will be more related to yoga mats and less to commercial floor mats. (You can see an example of this in the video below). In experiments, we've found that this tuning has led to an increase in earnings for publishers.
- Selecting ad location: Do you want ads to appear at the top and bottom of your search results? Or along the right sidebar as well, just like on Google.com? Now you can make the call on where ads are placed. (Here's a tip: we've found that placing ads at the top and right monetizes the best for publishers.)
- Quick and easy updates: Just as you use our ad management feature to quickly change the settings for your ad and referral units, you'll be able to do the same for your search engine within your AdSense account. Your settings will be saved in your account, so you won't need to generate new search code for each change.

Thank you for this very nice improvement.
The Vertical search might be just what I've been waiting for...
I'm having problems entering wild cards with urls in the specific site search. Does this work with Safari?
Hi Manisha please Dont't promote your blog in this type. As per terms its wrong........
How to integrate the search code in a blogger post separately made for search results. I have made a blank post for search results. Simply pasting the search code in post doesn't work. Any suggestions?
I see new Adsense for Search improvment in my account today
I like Custom Search because they offers advanced customization options.
Is there something wrong with adsense today?
My stats have been the same all day, which is very odd.
yep, it seems that google was freeze for a big part of the day... About the article, it is a really cool improvement. Thanks guys !
Thanks Arlene Lee for the very nice Presentation, Good Work :)
I'm looking forward to trying this out.
Thanks
These new features will only be available to us if we've migrated our accounts to a Google Account? I have a Google adsense password, a gmail and Google Sitemaps password, and a Google Alerts password. I don't want to merge them all into one. I have heard horror stories about people being banned from AdSense through no fault of their own, so wouldn't that mean we couldn't sign into our other Google related accounts if a problem occured?
Hi. The "look and feel" of the new custom search will not fit on my blogspot. In previous version, I was able to put the Google logo above the search box and the "search" button below the search box. I do not see how I can do that today. Can it be done?
I've implemented the new code, but there are bg thick borders around the ads that google generates, even though the code of the 'border' is set the same color as the background. It just looks nasty - not at all like Google.com
Can anyone help to figure this one out? I don't mind a border but a big thick primary blue one - Yuk!
yes i sign up for one and i dont see it been use so can you tell what iam doing i did a googleadsense and i check it all the time and i dont know what iam doing so can you all help me out
This good improvement. But you could have given the older version of adsense for search. Because me and many others are using this adsense since the opening we feel very uneasy to go on with this version. You could have added the older version too.

It's nice to have Google CSE integrated directly with AdSense. But problem I have been raising for some time with no response is the incomplete list of results when using CSE compared to normal Google search for the same site.
Is there anything going around this?
the vertical search doesnt work as per the help files.
tried:
*.mysite.com
www.mysite.com/*
*.mysite.com/*
None work - says invalid URL. I have sent feedback via the help system twice now. Hoping this can be fixed or i can be shown the errors of my ways.
nigel: You're right, the wild card isn't working when specifying URLs to be searched across. We're working on this issue and will hopefully have a fix for this soon!
rajeev edmonds: It's a little tricky hosting the search results on your blogspot, but it is possible. The idea is that the search results page would be hosted on your blogspot homepage and not in a separate post. First, you would need to add a "HTML/JavaScript" page element to your template, and drop the search box code into the content of that element. Then for the search results, you would need to add another "HTML/JavaScript" page element to the homepage where you would put in the code for the search results. Feel free to experiment with the positioning of these two page elements (although you probably want your search results to be at the top of the blog). You’ll also have to adjust your site template and layout in order to accommodate for the results iFRAME. (If you set ads to show at the top & bottom instead of at the right, you can reduce the width of the results iFRAME to 650 pixels).
wacky packages: We did change up the "Look and Feel" options a bit, but the new options you see in the wizard should make the search box fit even better within site templates. You can choose to put the Google logo under your search box by selecting the top right option and shorten the text box to 10 characters in length. That would make the search box pretty narrow in width. Or you can choose to use the watermark logo, which would take up the smallest amount of space on your site.
random terrain: Yes, you’ll need to migrate your AdSense account to a Google Account in order to use this new feature. If you’re concerned about using the same login and password for all of your Google products, please know that you can migrate your AdSense account to different/new Google Account in order to keep AdSense separate from other products you’re using.
direct: You can change your border color to something lighter (try #E3FCFE) in the setup wizard, even though you can't set it to match the background completely. The actual border around the ads isn't as thick as the one in the sample, so I would recommend giving it a try.

Thanks Adsense Team for the guidance. I tested it and now I am able to integrate it in my blogspot blog.
Regards
Hey, it doesn't work at all! When I press the button "Submit and Get Code" it says "Error while trying to save your Adsense for Search settings. Please try again later."... :(
New search is great, specifically because of the new search box that fits nicely on my site! Same can't be said for the results page unfortunately, because of the width restrictions :(
As is now, I can't have "content" wider than 500px and the results page needs to be 795px minimum... It should at least be 500px since lots of people still run 800x600 compatible pages and there's normally a menu with a width of 200-300px.
Is it at all possible to exclude keywords from the search, just like in a normal Google search? Our site search's goal is to keep visitors inside our site, so I'd like all results to be either from our news section or our content, but not our forums since there is a different search there.
Using "forums.domain.com" doesn't work in the keywords section, but it works in a normal Google search.
AdSense for search will now index even more pages of your site. This will get more content on the web which will help everyone that has an internet business.
AdSense For Search™ doesn't save some settings when after i click Save And Subit code.
Today i tried AdSense For Search™ and have noticed that some settings
are not saved, like:
Optional keywords (even if i try to delete them they stay later)
Logo Image URLs (they stay even if i try to delete them)
What can be done about it?
Every time i want to test new layout i have to create new AdSense For
Search™ ad.
Old ads cannot be deleted, but only hidden.
Please advice.
This may be bug in AdSense system which must be reported immediaterly.
Thanks.
Sad when you can not have a Adsense blog and still it has spam. You need to work on that your forum is full of it.
Now i want to ask about the Search can i add more ads then the 1 one in the top on the landing page?
Hope it generates XHTML compliant code
When I Submit and Get Code, The Browser Receive this Message:
https://www.google.com/adsense/cse-code?adSlotChannel.id=46248795
Not Found
The requested URL %2Fadsense%2Fcse-code%3FadSlotChannel.id%3D46248795 was not found on this server.
I have to say I prefer the option of putting the Google on the search button like the old one.
Nobody wants an ugly picture, so the only real option is the watermark and I can't even style the field to fit in with the rest of the sites look...and it's not cross-browser friendly. It looks similar on IE, FF & Opera, but not Safari.
Is there any chance of bringing the google button back or letting us at least style the font size and borders of the field?
HATE! the new google adsense improved search. Where is the old one google? please put it back, it's much better and more professional then the new setup your offering......
Inside Adsense Team: Thanks for your answers. However, I'm not sure you answered "Wacky Package's" question. I think he was referring to the button placement, not the logo. The new Adsense for Search doesn't appear to allow us to place the button below the input field anymore - something that's proving a burden on my layouts where I previously placed the search box in a narrow sidebar. Is there a way to move the button back below the input field in the new Adsense for Search?
Error. After pressing submit, this came out "Error while trying to save your Adsense for Search settings. Please try again later."
It ain't working man. Frustrating
Google, forget about it. They are using your valuable webspace that you could be using and selling yourself.Selling adspace is the easiest thing to do. Don't let GOOGLE have it for pennies on the dollar. They are reaching deep into your pockets and robbing you blind ! Just FYI !
Like a few others have mentioned here I get the message "Error while trying to save your Adsense for Search settings. Please try again later." when I try to create the new serch codes. I have reported it using the Adsense feedback page, no response at all....
A minor quibble about the example used in the Adsense Help Center, "How does adding keywords affect AdSense for search?" It uses the keyword "Africa" to narrow down the "tiger" search to the animal sense. There are no tigers in Africa, they're in Asia.
To be perfectly fair, there ARE tigers in Africa, just no natively. So it's a good example if you would like to find info on these tigers that are being bred in Africa ;)
Update on the button below the search box issue - it appears to fall down automatically if the sidebar is too narrow, so this is a non-issue.
I have been getting "Error while trying to save your Adsense for Search settings. Please try again later." When clicking to generate the code.
I did some reading in the groups and several people suggested that it's a browser problem (I normally use Firefox/3.0b5). I've tried clearing my cookies etc and have tried with Opera too but still have the same problem.
I don't have IE (run Linux), so will try when I get the chance with a friends computer. I couldn't find any official sounding response on the issue.
It seems odd that both browsers I have tried can't get to the code generation.
Hello, I would like ask a question, why when I try to get the code for Google Search, the system is hang, after I put a name for the code, says "saving".. and hang.
Thank you for your and other explanation
Hello, I find no information on how to customize the search results landing page, in fact it seems that you are hiding any information about it since I've been searching for a while and in the video you can only see close ups. Is it possible to personalize the search results page? (more than only the colors, I would like to add a header and a footer to that). If so please tell how (I tried with an iframe but it doesn't work). If not possible please say so as well and if you have in mind giving this option.
Thank you.
hello I withdraw my last comment. it now works, it didn't work when I was testing offline, but once the URL is the one specified in the settings it works well... I think
Great News! I like it :)
I have implemented AdSense for Search on my blogspot, but when I test it out, none of the search words generate any results. Loads of ads, but no hits on the word in my blog. Words like chocolate, porch, beads... I know they're in there - I wrote it! Why doesn't the search see them. It has been like this for about 4 days now, and I have gone in and tried regenerating the search code in various formats, many times.
Feeling very frustrated.
Ideally, I want search results in a new window, ads on the right only, and re-search options at top and bottom of results page, which I am not getting either.
ARGH! Love Google, am new to blogging and need some advice.
FYI: joegirl.blogspot.com
Thanks!
How do you just have the Web Search option - ie not customised.
I've tried the Adsense forum, many other webmaster forums and no luck. This is my last hope, please can someone help?
I have the strangest problem with adsense custom search. I have a list of about 100 URLs. I paste them to the area where it says to specify which sites I'd like the search engine to search, save and paste the code to my blog. But the search items are never searched in those 100 addresses.
When I go and check the custom search engine under manage ads, it only shows the last 20 URLs. Also the list is reversed (the last address appears at the top). Is there a limit to how many URLs you can include in a vertical search?
I know custom search engines (by Adsense) with more than 2000 URLs. Can someone help??
Many thanks in advance.

I have the same problem as DEBJYOTI ROY above. All the searches on my site come back with
Your search - - did not match any documents.
My site is http://personal.linkline.com/enik1138/ with the search parameters set for my site only as http://personal.linkline.com/enik1138/*
no matter what search terms I enter, the search ALWAYS takes me to azt.com. why is that happening and how can I change it?
Can we use both adsense for search as well as adsens for content. I mean if we are hosting result on our host we can also paste as adsense for content bar.
Is it is allowed or not??
Never mind. I was pasting too much code. Problem solved.
Major issues... The results are too wide even when placing ads top and bottom (this allows values much less than 800px to be inputted) but the search results appear much wider and the bottom ads float to the right!!!!!
Has anybody seen a way to add Googles search suggestions to n adsense search? You know when you type in something and it completes it for you and/or offers suggestions for you in a drop down under the search field? Please help me.
hi
I have a question.please help me.
I have created my blog using blogger. Then I created my account in Google/adsense. Then from Google/adsense itself i added content ads and googlesearchadsense to my blog. content adds are working fine but my googlesearchadsense is not working. should i need to add that through my blogger ? or I can add it directly through google/adsense site?
please tell me the answer.
Hey, it doesn't work at all! When I press the button "Submit and Get Code" it says "Error while trying to save your Adsense for Search settings. Please try again later."...
i cant work out how to change the color of the search box? we have 2 options, white or black!
also after you submite to get the code, theres a hole lot of un-used space in the code box, very ennoying.
I am using blogger blog. Should I need to add a site map of that blog to Google?
