Updated Terms and Conditions

Every now and then, we update the AdSense Terms and Conditions to make sure they're in line with policies across Google, and to prepare for future changes to the products and services we offer. As part of these regular updates, you'll soon sign in to your account and see that the Terms have been updated, prompting you to read through and accept them.

This time around, most of the changes to the Terms and Conditions fall into two broad categories: 1) future products and features and 2) privacy requirements. Specifically, one of the main changes is that the terms anticipate future products that may become available in other advertising formats and mediums, for example Gadget Ads. As we look forward to monetizing more online and offline content, we've re-worded some portions of the terms to make them applicable across a broader array of media and formats -- anticipating, for example, that future products may be priced, paid, or managed differently than current ones.

We've also added some specific requirements that make it necessary for publishers to post and abide by a transparent privacy policy that users see. According to this policy, publishers must notify their users of the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process. This change relates to advertisers' use of innovative products and features like Gadget Ads and other offerings in the future.

The changes aren't limited to the areas above, however; we've made small changes throughout, so it's a good idea for you to review them thoroughly before accepting.

I can add a privacy policy page to a proper website easily enough, but how do I go about doing it to a Blogger blog? Do I just make a post and link to it from the main page somehow?

Since there is a method of inserting Adsense units via Blogger conveniently, I feel that this method should somehow automatically take care of the required privacy policy page as well.

lost... You can add a Text field in the bottom section. That will show up on all of your pages and is the easiest way I've found to put that sort of static information on my blog.

I got an email today telling me to sign the new Terms and Conditions. It said to follow the
instructions, but I don't see any. What do I do?

Thanks.

After receiving an email from you reminding me to update my acceptance of the new T&Cs, I must have had a brain freeze, cause I can't locate where to accept the new T&Cs from last February. Could you give us a clue as to where it's located? I regularly log-in to my account, but don't remember if something popped up reminding me to accept the terms or not. If it did, I would have accepted.

nothing popped up for me either.. is there a way to find it now?

I can't find the place to agree either. I use a Mac and have tried both Firefox and Safari and no instructions have appeared.

Ditto for me. I visited the Terms & Conditions page and read through it but there is no "Accept" button to click on or any other way to agree to the Terms & Conditions.

Same here. I looked in the Help forum, no help there as you would expect.

CAN SOMEONE FROM GOOGLE PLEASE TELL US HOW TO ACCEPT THE NEW TERMS AND CONDITIONS? I HAVE CLICKED ON EVERY POSSIBLE PLACE IN MY ADSENSE ACCOUNT AND CANNOT FIND ANYWHERE TO ACCEPT THE NEW TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

Same problem here... email arrives telling me to accept new T&C, says if I log on I'll find instructions. I log on, no instructions. The help page suggested didn't help at all, nor have any of the others.

The email I got doesn't look like a scam... but there's clearly something not quite right here!

I got the same email that asks me to agree to the new TOS, but when I logged in to my Adsense account, I didn't see anything!
I don't think that email was scam though. The domain of the sender is google dot com so I'm 100% sure it's legitimate.

Google, come on! What's going on? Where's the acceptance page?

Same here, HOW can I accept the new TOS?

Thanks to everyone who left a comment to report the Terms and Conditions email they received. Please know that our team did send a number of emails this morning (May 12th) related to the updated Terms and Conditions, and our team is looking into the issue that you've all reported.

We'll be posting updates in this Help Forum thread as soon as we have any more information. We apologize for the confusion caused, and appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Hi, I got an email regarding Adsense Policy,

Sub: Important Account Information
Message: We noticed that you haven't yet accepted the new Terms and
Conditions. To review them and indicate your acceptance, please
log in at http://www.google.com/adsense and follow the
instructions. Please be aware that all publishers must accept the
new Terms and Conditions in order to continue their participation
in the AdSense program. ... ... //.. //...

But when I log-in to Adsense, their is not like or alert to accept new
policy.
Where is the option to review new Adsense Policy.
Any Help would be appreciated.

It seems logical to have Google send another email so that we don't have to go through all of the posts on the blog to find the one that helps to correct the accept terms & condition problem.

Joshua Collins said...

Sue Bee, I agree with you on that one. But, I am glad Google did respond and put our minds at ease. Hopefully we won't loose our accounts due to a glitch :p

The Romanian version of the new terms&conditions is impossible to agree to.
It has such a bad wording and is so messy that it looks like a poor machine translation result.
Is there any way to fix this in time?
I "have to" agree to that terms in a week.

This is ridiculous, I have wasted much time looking for a place to accept the new terms and conditions. What a mess!
