Before you apply to AdSense

Getting started with AdSense is easy, but when reviewing the applications we get, we've noticed a few common pitfalls. To help make sure your application is approved the first time around, ask yourself the following questions below before submitting.

Do I have what I need to apply?
  • Website: To display Google ads, you need administrative access to the site you submit for AdSense in order to place our JavaScript ad code on your site. Adding the Google code to your site's source code will enable you to show ads, search boxes, and referral units on your pages.

If you don't have a website of your own, that doesn't mean you can't participate in AdSense. We offer a couple of options to help you easily create your own site.

First, there's Blogger, a free tool for setting up and publishing your own blog online. With its easy-to-use and customizable templates, you can create an account and start blogging right away. You can also set up AdSense ads easily through your Blogger account.

If you prefer more flexibility and control, then our web page tool, Page Creator, may be more suitable. Signing up for a Page Creator account is free as well -- all you need is a Gmail account. The best part is that you don't have to download any software or hire a designer. Once you've created your Page Creator site, you can begin displaying Google ads in minutes.

  • Valid payee name: Payments will be made out to the name on your account, so make sure to include your full and valid name, or that of your business, rather than just initials. If banks won't accept the name you enter in the 'Payee Name' field, neither will we.

  • Valid address: We want to make sure your hard-earned money reaches you, so please also provide a complete valid address where you can receive mail. If you live in a country or territory that doesn't have a standard format for addresses, please be sure that your application includes as much information as a mailman would need to find your residence.
Does my website meet all the necessary requirements?
  • Valid URL: If you manage an entire website, give us the URL of your home page. If you manage a blog or other account within a larger website, you should provide the URL of the specific page that you manage and not the URL of the entire hosting website. Don't forget to double check your URL for typos!

  • Fully launched website: Since we won't be able to review websites that are not fully launched or built, please ensure that your site is live and functioning at the time you submit your application.

  • Unique content: We want visitors to sites in the AdSense network to have a good experience, so please publish content that's interesting and unique. Avoid using "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other cookie cutter approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content. If you're participating in an affiliate program, give people a reason to visit your site first.

  • Supported language: We're constantly working to provide targeted, relevant ads in more languages. However, until then, we can only approve your application if the majority of your website is in one of our supported languages.

  • Pay-To Sites: If your site participates in programs that compensate people to perform activities that drive traffic to you, we can't approve your application. Some examples of these "pay-to" programs are sites that encourage users "to click" or "to surf" or "to read email." In addition, you shouldn't encourage others to join these programs in the content, links, or third-party ads on your site.
We also encourage you to read our program policies in detail for further insight on how to create a successful application. Now that you have all the necessary information, now's a good time to apply.

Hello,
Thanks for giving this outline. My application was also disapproved. I have resubmitted it and it complies with the outline now. But I have a problem. Someone told me to inform you about it through your blog. So, I posted here.

I had submitted an application for adsense using email id bubaipal@yahoo.com about 2 weeks ago. It was disapproved due to incomplete adress and I was told to rectify the fault and submit agin. I resubmitted it on 23 April. When I log into my account it says that the application is in review and will be completed in 2-3 days and max a week of submission. But my application has been submitted for 9 days now. I am posting here to see if you have missed it somehow. Please let me know when my application will be reviewed.

I am so excited and cannot wait to join your fabulous program.

Have a nice day.

Thanks

This is Rajesh Kumar, a software engineer with 3+ experiences in IT industry from Bangalore. I am well aware of online threats and frauds associated with blogger and its adsense initiatives. I also understand the ad sense policies and rules and I am fully abided with this.

I would like to ask for some help from this forum that none of my id has got Google adsense approval till now but my request has been denied based on following basis.

"While reviewing your
application, we found your account to be closely related to an account
disabled for invalid click activity"

But I am surprised to see steps taken by Google Ad Sense team and the reason not to accept my application. Tough I was not having any adsense account, how it can be disapproved based on invalid click activity. I am feeling discouraged by this decision.

Past two month, I am trying to get approval from Google Adsense and followed adsense polices and instructions. Please sombody guide me with next step.

Please revert back for any clarification.

Please I have tried to register the adsense programe but it's very very hard for me. I ve not gotten a personal website so I choosed the Blogger site. But after I have opened and uprgraded the site I couldn't get any valid url to add on my adsense form for registration. How do I get to know my real blog address so I can forward it to my friends. And fill it in the adsense form for registration.

I received an notice that my AdSense account for my site http://www.rdvanvliet.com was not approved due to difficult site navigation. This seems preposterous- my site is a simple site with navigation bars at the top of each page and some links through pictures to the relevant album. What's up Google? Why is my site "difficult to navigate"?

Alright here is the Timeline of the problems I have encountered:

1) A year ago I get hired by a company to manage adwords accounts, I become GAP certified. I use the e-mail address xx@gmail.com with this AdWords account. Everything's fine and dandy for the last year.

2) 2 weeks ago I decide to put AdSense ads on my PERSONAL website www.TheQuantumU.com. I again see no harm in using the same e-mail address, xx@gmail.com to sign up with AdSense (If only I would have known how much trouble using the same e-mail caused, I wouldn't have used that e-mail).

3) Today a coworker of mine informs me that he's getting e-mails about verifying an adsense account with a Pin. At my day job we don't use AdSense or manage anything that involves AdSense, so he signed into the account and realized that it was my personal website. He told me, I went in and looked at the users that had Access to my AdSense account and EVERYONE who I work with during my Day job were noted as users that had access to my PERSONAL and SEPARATE AdSense account, like 20 people.

4) I made a new gmail account and called it xxCobalt@gmail.com figuring I would Switch my PROFESSIONAL JOB's account away from my PERSONAL e-mail (xx@gmail.com). So I went into AdWords>My Account>Access and switched the e-mail to xxCobalt@gmail.com. I figured this would solve my problem but no.

5) I then went to my PERSONAL AdSense account and tried to sign in with xx@gmail.com, the original e-mail address that I signed up with. But it wouldn't let me in. So then I tried signing in with the New e-mail address that I had just created for my AdWords account (xxCobalt@gmail.com) and it let me in. And alllll the users who have access to my Job's AdWords account still have access to my PERSONAL AdSense account.

6) I need to have these accounts unlinked, unconnected, disassociated. The only other option I see is Canceling my current AdSense account Completely and signing up for a new AdSense account with the correct e-mail address, xx@gmail.com

7) So essentially I can't login with the e-mail that I want to, this is why I'm writing you here, because I can't login properly and you guys don't have ANY solutions to this problem anywhere on your forums or in your helpcenter.

I will be getting a lot of traffic to my website soon from various different PR plans I have so I would appreciate some help on this! Thank you.

Sincerely,

Rolland Gregg

Help!

I have a blogger site up and running and was adding Ad Sense.

I had started an application for Ad Sense, got knocked off my wed browser. Now when I try to create a new account again I ge tthe message "User email address already exists". Even when i just try to log into Ad Sense (with the same address)to finish my application I'm getting the message "User Account Already Exists". I don't want to use another email since I do use my Gmail account for everything. Just need to finish the application.

What should I do here?

Hello,

I applied to Adsense twice already and I received only a notification that my site was not approved. Frankly, I was very suprised, as my site seemed to meet all the requirments you list.
What is most bothersome is that the rejection did not state what I needed to do in order to be approved, so that I could work in the direction of making those changes. It simply said, not approved.

My site is new, but has original content, videos, news, and eventually it will contain a forum.

The bottom line is I just need to understand what it is you don't like about my site and why you wouldn't approve it for your program?

my website is www.swisswatchdealer.com

People tell me it is a nice site, and I think so too.

What must I do to be approved?

Thanks

Hi Adsense,

I have given an application of opening an adsense account approx 12 days back. Since the day I applied for the account I get to see the message that, it will take around 1 week time to get the account approved. But still there is no change. I would like to use adsense service in my business application. Hope you look into the matter. I have still not received any emails from adsense about anything. So I am getting little confused, please help me.

Hi,
I have a travel blog with all unique content and no use of abusive language. But my request for ad sense was rejects 2 times. I want to know if I submitted wrong or is there any other reason for rejection? The reason quoted both times was "inappropriate content".

Thanks,

I have the same issue as Pragnya. I have applied for an Adsense account for my main blog
http://patrickdanielgervais.blogspot.com

It is original content and almost 1 year old, but my application has been under review for almost 1 month! Does anyone know how to speed up the process?

Steven Bassion said...

The AdSense pages do not load for me in Chrome. Once I figured that out and went back to Firefox, I pulled up a page that said my application was being reviewed and I would be informed within a week.

Two weeks ago.

I cannot find out anything. I've sent piteous e-mails to AdSense, asking for information. No information.

I've set up a time-sensitive blog and the roll-out will utilize promotion. Everything is on hold - I don't know for how long or why.

I still havent had any response. Still under review. I kind of wish it would be rejected, so at least I know why and can start over. Let me know if you hear anything. I'll post here if I make any progress.

I was reject by adsense 5 times, and that email tell me adsense can't accept my because page type....

Can anybody tell me what should I do?

Steven Bassion said...

Another week has gone by without any communication from Google concerning approval of my AdSense account. I have e-mailed them twice. No reply. I cannot explain what they are doing/not doing or why.

Steven Bassion said...

I have been complaining about Google AdSense for six weeks - their lack of response. Today, May 15, I tried again to register. I used a different e-mail. They had a different form, promising a reply within 24 hours. It didn't come. They have a link for "if you receive no response." I clicked there and AdSense said that I should look for an e-mail. It came. I clicked. I'm in the program.

Two notes: I think that Google cleaned up it's system . . .without cleaning up the backlog. And, I had created a message rule to send all the Google this and that spam directly to Deleted . . .and that's where I had to look to find the confirming e-mail from AdSense.

Hope this helps.

Steven Bassion said...

And, this week (May 15), AdSense pages actually function in Chrome! No more Mozilla to log into AdSense!

If I read all the comments on this blog and the communication with the Google team I get the impression the Google team has no regard for feedback. Most of the people that have commented confirm that after their applications for Adscense they receive no comment about their applications and the reasons for the delay.I believe this is very unprofessional from the Google team. I am waiting for a few months already and have yet to hear from any Google representative about my application. Google you are a big business and is suppose to serve your customers. Where is the professional conduct that goes hand in hand with services. You owe us as your customers an explanation. Eddie

Hi:

I have signed up for AdSense twice and am still waiting for a response from Google. I thought the typical wait time was supposed to be two days? Thanks for your response, Maria

Steven Bassion said...

I waited a month. Then I used another e-mail address and signed up again and it went through in two days. I have never heard about my original application, after five months. I have no idea what they are doing - except - maybe - the system hangs up on their own gmail addresses.

Hello everybody.
Adsense will not approve for blogspot's blog. Your's should be a primary domain. i.e.: It should be "www.myblog.com" instead of "www.myblog.blogspot.com"

Same as everyone else; not a sound from Google Adsense after the initial application. My account has been in review for 4 weeks now and there is nothing I can do, which is frustrating at least.
Google Adsense seems like a great tool for us smaller publishers, please just give an answer. Even a rejection is better than nothing.

Hello,

I have a running website for a few months now that I update from time to time. The problem is, I received an email saying that my account was disabled due to invalid click activity.

I submitted around 3 appeals to Adsense to reinstate my account discussing in detail what might have happened to the extent of my knowledge.

I have also included in that appeal the steps that I have taken to make sure that it does not happen again including but not limited to voiding the agreement with my associate site admin which may have been inducing the clicks. I have even switched my hosting company and domain name.

Is there no other way around this regarding my reinstatement? I would be very pleased to find out more information regarding this and what other steps I can take to be reinstated. I would also wish to be able to clearly justify that the clicks did not come from me as a matter of fact and honesty.

When i did that,it again rejected my application saying "unacceptable site content as i had submitted the website as www.indianbackpacker.com/certified.html(as advised by google)"
The third time it said"Postal address is incorrect and i rechecked it and it was absolutly fine.
