Accidents happen

As most of you know, our program policies state that publishers are not permitted to click on their own ads for any reason. For this reason, we've received many emails from publishers letting us know that they've accidentally clicked on their own ads. If you're one of these publishers, we truly appreciate the efforts you've made to monitor your account and keep it in good standing. However, we do understand that an accidental click may occur from time to time, so there's no need to contact us each instance this occurs.

Because we closely monitor all account activity using engineering systems and thorough human analysis, chances are we've already detected your clicks on your ads and discounted them. While these clicks still show in your reports, we filter out their associated earnings so that advertisers aren't charged. However, please keep in mind that we don't ignore the clicks completely; if it appears to us that a publisher has been clicking on his own ads to inflate his earnings or an advertiser's costs, we may disable the account to protect our advertisers' interests.

If you've been clicking your ads out of interest or to see who was advertising on your site, we strongly recommend using the AdSense preview tool as an alternative. This tool will allow you to check the destination of ads on your page without the risk of generating invalid clicks. You can also find more ways to view the URLs of your Google ads by visiting our Help Center.

I just learned how to generate the code and add to my sites and out of excitement and to see if my efforts paid off I clicked several times. Then after reading the policies I realized my mistake. I read a lot of what people are saying and now I am worried that my account will be suspended. I guarantee this won't happen again. Please let me know whats going to happen.
Thanks you for your time!

Yes, thank you. Our software people just inserted two more ad units and a graphic box for us to type on and insert pictures. Yikes, the new google insert at the bottom of the page I thought was a test post of a cartoon picture....realized too late when I clicked it was an advertisement!! I freaked out...so happy to see that once accidental click might send me Google hell!!! Thanks!

I was checking my website preview page and using my touchpad to advance the lines when I accidentally clicked on a weight loss page, certainly not out of interest my doctor wants me to gain weight. I'm glad Google's system understands these accidents, first time in the two years I have Adsense on the site. This'll teach me to fall asleep at the keyboard (uh, reading my own copy).

I'm relieved to find this blog post as well. We just started installing Google Ads on our web site.

I've accidentally clicked ads a couple times. I had a video ad pop up, thought "Cool!" and clicked it...then went "Ahhh!"

I'm also previewing pages to see how the ads come up, so I've be reloading a lot of pages.

I am using statcounter and it showed that one ads was clicked accidentally in my session. Strangely, I did not notice or remember about it. It could be my mistake or statcounter report is wrong. I was going to email to google about this before I found this.

Thanks, this bring relief to me.

It would be good to have a feature in blogger to disable adsense ads on your blog, when you login to your blogger account. This way chances of accidentally clicking on your own ads would be reduced.

We spend so much time on my blog everyday. It's very likely that we unintentionally click on our own ads sometimes.

yeah, i am new to blogging today. i just signed up. as a matter of fact, i only wrote the blog title with empty blog, because i don't know what to write. while on my profile, i click on view blog maybe four to five times only or maybe on some other ways. as i read the monetize which led me to adsense. i was told my account is disabled. i was shocked, i knew i applied for adsense twice and denied twice. i dont remember i applied for the third time. but was surprised that i was already disabled.
gosh....i was terrified. and very mad at myself.

i read and read through things just to get to adsense. i even wanted to appeal, that is how scared i am yet my internet is stuck up.
blessing in disguise. ;)
yet i didnt give up. until i ended up here. thanks for this post.
helps me a lot.
relief.

Great to know that those accidental clicks will be ignored and discounted. I accidentally clicked on my ad a couple of times, and was worried that I'll get banned. Cool to know that it's alright, cheers

Good to know. It's been a long, long week, and I clicked on my own ad before my brain had a chance to register what I was doing (I badly need a vacation). My apologies.

And I think Brain Washer has a great idea.
